world creator interview

Description

Description
Kosui is a meditative Zazen world designed around the philosophy of Karesansui (traditional Japanese dry rock garden). There’s no goal, no reward, and no show — just a place to sit, breathe, and spend “time doing nothing.” Feel the ripple patterns in the sand, the timeless presence of stones, and the quiet space that invites calm reflection.

Concept by the Creator
The space was designed to balance the peacefulness of a large tatami room with functionality that connects creators and users with nature in a relaxed, natural way.

Features

🎵 Original Song — “FullBodytracking” by Surara
This world includes an original track dedicated to Hiro, and it can only be heard here.

1. Sound-proof Booths

Two sound-insulated rooms are available — perfect for quiet conversations, deep chats, or relaxed creative discussions without outside noise. Designed to feel like a secluded private space in a traditional inn.

2. Mirror With Rock Garden View

A full-length mirror set naturally inside the large tatami hall. Use it to check your avatar, expressions, and style while enjoying the scenery.

3. Stage Area

A “stand” in the center back of the room serves as a small stage for introductions, mini showcases, and placing a conversational focal point.

4. Main Central Space

The heart of the world — spacious and inviting like a large tatami hall in a traditional inn. Easy to use for both sitting and standing, and comfortable even with many visitors.

5. Entrance Area

Designed to guide visitors naturally toward the center upon entry. The first moment inside gives an expansive impression of the giant tatami space — a key part of setting the world’s mood.

Summary: The Design Philosophy

The layout brings together serenity, a vast Japanese tatami aesthetic, and functional social design — creating a calm yet communal space where users can meet, relax, and reflect:

  • Sound-proof booths → deep conversations

  • Mirror → self-check & interaction trigger

  • Stage → natural self-expression

  • Main hall → gathering hub

  • Entrance → immersion starting point

What is Karesansui? (Japanese Dry Rock Garden)

Karesansui (枯山水) is a traditional style of Japanese garden often translated as a “dry landscape garden” or “Zen rock garden.”

Unlike typical gardens, Karesansui uses no real water.
Instead, it represents natural scenery symbolically through:

  • Raked white sand or gravel → water, rivers, or the ocean

  • Rocks and stones → mountains, islands, or waterfalls

  • Empty space → silence, time, and the unseen

The garden is not meant to be walked through, but observed quietly, usually from a seated position in a temple hall.

Philosophy Behind Karesansui

Karesansui gardens are deeply influenced by Zen Buddhism.
Their purpose is not decoration, but contemplation.

By reducing nature to its essential forms, the garden invites the viewer to:

  • Let go of distractions

  • Focus on the present moment

  • Find meaning in stillness and simplicity

Every stone placement and sand pattern is intentional, encouraging personal interpretation rather than giving a fixed answer.

Why Karesansui Feels Calm

  • Minimal colors and forms reduce visual noise

  • Repetitive sand patterns create a meditative rhythm

  • Open space allows the mind to breathe

This is why Karesansui gardens are often associated with meditation (Zazen) and quiet reflection.

Karesansui in Modern Spaces

Today, the concept of Karesansui is used not only in temples, but also in:

  • Architecture and interior design

  • Modern art and digital spaces

  • Virtual environments like VRChat

Its philosophy translates well into virtual worlds, offering a place where people can slow down, sit together, and simply exist.
