But there’s a pitfall here.
When your own goals are clear, the desire for “others to do something for you” becomes stronger. The stress of things not going your way starts to build up.
The Cruel Gap Between What You Can and Can’t Do
In the real world, buying vast tracts of land or constructing buildings is a huge undertaking.
But VRChat is a software world, so worlds and avatars can be created freely. The range of what’s technically possible is extraordinarily wide.
On the other hand, human relationships simply don’t work that way.
Human relationships involve an independent other person. That person has their own will. You can’t make things go exactly as you want.
Because there are so many things you can do technically, the stress from the one thing you can’t control — human relationships — stands out starkly. This is the real reason why so many people struggle with relationships in VRChat.
“I’m Not Attractive Enough” Is the Wrong Conclusion
When things don’t go well, people tend to think, “It’s because I’m not attractive enough” or “People don’t like me because my avatar isn’t cute enough.”
That’s not it.
Human relationships involve an independent other person. That’s why 100% success is impossible. The other person has their own circumstances. Timing matters too.
Human relationships are something you can’t resolve through your efforts alone, and that’s not a matter of your attractiveness.
“It Must Be Done This Way” Thinking Is Dangerous
In VRChat, there are people who fall into “it must be done this way” thinking.
These people are dangerous. Precisely because they believe they’re right, they attack others beyond what’s appropriate. Hardly anyone does bad things thinking they’re doing something wrong.
You might think this has nothing to do with you. But if you spend enough time in VRChat, there’s a high chance you’ll get caught up in some kind of trouble. I’ve been caught up in plenty myself.
Don’t take it for granted that others will do things for you. Build relationships on a basis of asking, not demanding. This is the foundation of human relationships. It’s the same in VRChat as it is in reality.
