Today I’m writing about a uncomfortable topic: Radeon fundamentalists in the VRChat community.
These are people who aggressively evangelize Radeon GPUs not through helpful information, but through harassment of anyone who mentions NVIDIA positively or Radeon critically.
They attack content creators who write balanced hardware reviews. They flood comment sections with aggressive corrections. They send unsolicited DMs on Discord pushing Radeon. They frame any mention of Radeon’s limitations as enemy propaganda.
This behavior harms the very cause they claim to support. When new users see this toxicity, they associate Radeon with aggressive fandom rather than good hardware. Content creators avoid Radeon topics altogether to dodge harassment.
I use Radeon myself. I write honestly about both its strengths and weaknesses. But fundamentalists don’t want honest writing — they want propaganda. When I mention a legitimate Radeon limitation, I get attacked by the very community I’m trying to serve.
The GPU you use shouldn’t be a religious identity. NVIDIA and Radeon are both tools with different strengths. Helping people choose the right tool through honest information is valuable. Attacking people who provide that honest information is destructive.
To the fundamentalists: you’re not helping Radeon. You’re hurting it. Every attack makes one more person think “I’ll just go with NVIDIA to avoid these people.”
To everyone else: hardware choice is personal and situational. Don’t let anyone’s aggression influence what should be a practical decision based on your needs and budget.
