Details are revealed about the VIVE Tracker (Ultimate) [VIVE Ultimate Tracker].
The VIVE Tracker (Ultimate) [VIVE Ultimate Tracker] is a completely new type of tracker that uses two cameras to estimate your location.
(cited at :https://twitter.com/htcvivejapan/status/1729695316155232481)
Up to five trackers can be attached (i.e. currently up to eight points), and this time, a PC is no longer required and no base station is needed; just plug the VIVE wireless dongle into the headset. I would like to write about the details.

What is the use of this in the first place?
It is used for an operation called Full Body Tracking, which synchronises the movements of the entire body with the avatar. If you don’t know what full body tracking is, see this article for technical details.
Also, for more information on how to play with full body tracking with full body tracking, see this example use case article
Officials have also published information on how to set up and use the system with VRchat. After all, it seems that the official way to install the two trackers is at the ankle.。

VIVE Tracker (Ultimate) Here are the tweets in chronological order. Here you can get an idea of the flow of the VIVE Tracker (Ultimate) announcement and the atmosphere at the time. The purchase of full tracker equipment is sudden. It is sudden on the day. Moreover, the purchase on the day of the event is fraught with problems. We have written an article to help you understand this. It is important that you read it here and use it for future purchases.
Comparison of VIVE Tracker (Ultimate) and Vivetracker 3.0
Vivetracker 3.0 is recommended in lighthouse environments (where Vivetracker 3.0 is available).
As mentioned in the previous video, it is better for those who already have a lighthouse environment, and it is explained that it is designed for hard use environments beyond the lighthouse environment. Frankly, it is probably unnecessary for those who have VIVEtracke 3.0 at the base station.
Disadvantage 1: The Vivetracker 3.0 is naturally lighter and less loaded in terms of weight.
ixation and weight are quite important for full body tracking devices, the more intense the movement. With a weight of 94 g, the ViveTracker 3.0 is much lighter.
What is the disadvantage of being heavy: heavy -> intense movement -> easier tracking misalignment -> tighter tracker belt to prevent this -> painful -> less immersive experience. Especially when worn on the elbow, knee or chest, the impact is significant. In fact, 94 g is quite heavy.
Disadvantage 2: The battery is longer on the Vivetracker 3.0.
The official version says a maximum of 7.0 hours, so the 3.0 with a maximum of 7.5 hours is longer. I also wrote about how the Vivetracker 3.0 tracks in this article, so if you take a look at this, you might think that the tracking time is longer. This model should inevitably consume more power because of the need to take images.
VIVEトラッカーとベースステーションってどういう原理でフルトラできているの?仕組みや台数による動きの違いなどを一挙紹介!!【前編】
Disadvantage 3: Vivetracker 3.0 has more tracking points.
Vivetracker 3.0 is currently capable of 11 tracking points. In contrast, it can only track up to 8 points.
Advantage 1: For hard users in lighthouse environments.
This ‘hard’ use may mean, for example, great infrared reflections or a lot of obstructions, but I’m not sure here. Light houses are basically stronger in dark areas, so this one may be easier to operate in an environment with a lot of sunlight and at a level where there are no white flashes. But I think it’s clearly better designed to be able to do full traction in places where there is no light house environment!
What the specification list reveals
The Vive tracker 3.0 can be fitted with up to eight full trackers, so this tracker is calculated to have three fewer items. Price: ¥ 31,000 (incl. tax). Weight 94 g, charging time averages 2.2 hours start-up with Quick Charge 3.0. Connectivity is via dedicated 2.4 GHz/5 GHz Wi-Fi; a VIVE wireless dongle is required when connected.
Supported HMDs are currently VIVE XR Elite and VIVE Focus 3, with support for other standalone and PC VR headsets currently planned and a beta version to be launched in the coming weeks. Accuracy is announced to be worse than Base Station + Vive Tracker, and a beta feature that will enable PCVR via SteamVR (i.e. other HMDs can be used) will be released within a few weeks.
This beta will be used to support other HMDs in the future. They plan to post it on the official discord.
The special price reduction for HMD purchasers will be available until 31 December.

VIVE Tracker (Ultimate) [VIVE Ultimate Tracker] What you can find in the summary
The following summary is based on Twitter reactions on the day of the event.
Problems with the payment system
The bottleneck when it came to sudden purchases on the day was the occurrence of settlement system problems such as ‘the discount was not applied even if the coupon code was entered’ or ‘the coupon code did not go through’.
As this trouble is very common, the only countermeasure we could come up with was a somewhat disingenuous strategy of not trying to buy at a discount and having multiple payment methods, which is a total swing to buying without enjoying the original benefits of having multiple payment methods.
The tracking score is up to eight (you can put up to five), but it is a flying hoax.
What is also important to note about the exchange of information on Twitter is that many people ‘interpret things that have not been officially announced on their own’. As a result, even if that interpretation was correct, for example, if it says ‘up to five units, which means up to eight tracking points on VRchat’, many people would interpret it on their own and tweet that ‘if you add two more tongles, you can track 11 points’.
Some users hesitated to buy the VIVE after it was sold out, even though SteamVR compatibility means that other HMDs will also be compatible with it.
Moreover, VIVE released detailed information, e.g. whether it was better or worse than the VIVE Tracker 3.0 in a base station environment, much later, and even announced a few hours later that a beta would be available in a few weeks and that it would support STEAMVR.
This speaks to the difficulty of correctly understanding the new full tracking devices and getting them at a reasonable price.
I wouldn’t recommend buying a new full-tracking device out of the blue.
I’m actually not the type of person who jumps on a new Full Body Tracking system right away, but only buys it after some market and accurate information is available.
This VIVE tracker also has an official discord, so any uncertainties or problems will be gathered here as they arise.
If you’re not in a hurry, wait a bit and make sure it’s the device you want before buying.
